Walking the halls of the Xcel center, a main topic of conversation among the RNC delegates today was Sarah Palin.  Not her formal nomination as John McCain's running mate, but instead her handler's announcement that the Palin's 17-year-old daughter is pregnant.

I guess I expected people to be shocked, or possibly even outraged.  It seems an admission like this could well derail a campaign.  But instead I heard support.  Almost universal support.

The overall feeling is this is a private family matter.  And most people I talked with commended the young girl for coming forward with her pregnancy.  But an even stronger theme was that even though the girl made a mistake, she was now going to do "the right thing".  The Palin's say she will have the baby and get married to the father.  This came as a relief and even a source of pride for the delegates.

It remains to be seen whether or not this will have a long-term negative impact on the McCain-Palin ticket.  But the early returns show it may not be as much of a liability as some expected.

FOX 9 mentioned this topic for maybe a few seconds yesterday during the 7 hours of live news coverage we provided. The rest of our news focused on the events of the RNC and the hurricane.

The Brit Spears clan can get away with this kind of abstrusity.

SuperStupid, you're the epitome of a idiot that hasn't worked a job since your ex-wife took her "children" back to their original father, so don't attempt to babble on aimlessly about taxpayers. You have no comprehession of what little that pregnancy has on anything.

SS,
It is interesting that in one blog you opine about how great the influx of Illegal Immigrants is and in this one you write that we need more taxpayers (i.e. legal/registered workers). Do you have even a single stance that you don't repetitively contradict yourself on?

Hey bub, I have to explain every thing to you don't I?!
Immigrants DO generate taxes from cheap employers, and sales tax, and they do the smart thing which is pool their money.
They buy houses that YOU think that you are too good for, they work jobs that you think that YOU are too good for, In the near future what will they need YOU for? your vote?! nahh, they will have enough of their OWN.

Thats the only good thing about spitting out babies like it's going out of style, there is safety in numbers, AND majority rules, (pretty basic fundamentals) I can almost understand your fear of change!

And who pays for those babies? Who pays for the incarceration of the Illegal Immigrants when they inevitably break the law (they have already broken the law to get here, so it isn't a far stretch)? Who pays for the interpreters so that they won't have to be bothered with any assimilation effort? Who pays to educate their multiple children? Are you really naive enough to believe that the amount of taxes that are collected from their minimum wage incomes is enough to offset the cost of supporting them here? Are you really naive enough to believe that they are not marking their W-2 withholding to reflect the minimum taxation possible?
This is where all of your statements repetitively fall short. You are unable to comprehend the full picture. You have no clear vision of the consequences of such a short-sighted policy. In short, you think that a victory today guarantees a victory for eternity. We, on the other hand, are concerned with the results of today’s actions in the long view.
When the results of your inaction and “just let it happen” game plan finally came to fruition, you would be the first one to whine that somebody else didn’t work hard enough to ensure that you are covered. Pansy!

Oh yeah, all of your points fall long? someone paid for you, should'nt you return the favor?

This is not the first, nor the last time that this soil has been invaded, this time though it is a little more peacefull takeover.
"just let it happen" lol! who will do ANYTHING to not let it happen???not you or me.
You want to know why nothing can be done about it anyways? ok, lets close the borders, if that is even possible, yeah right. Do some research without immigration, America would be in a population deficit even with all of your promiscous teen births, then where would we be?
In the near future there will be a -cash for amnesty- policy, buy your way into citizenship, and who allows this? your uncle sam, and your big brother! how does that make you feel?
Who is gonna make it? we'll find out.. in the long run.
BTW bub you are way more intellectual than mid, who only says "trailor park this..tatoo that" for almost a whole year, it's getting old.

Actually, I (as well as my family members) have returned the favor as many of us are vets and have paid our dues for at least four generations.
I agree, nobody is going to do anything and that is the problem. I do not believe, however, that the solution is to throw our hands up and just watch it happen. I also do not believe that allowing a massive influx of poorly educated mostly unskilled functionally illiterate people into our country is going to benefit us by any means. You are right, I do not have the power to change the entire situation, but I do have the power to make my own change and I do that regularly by not giving any business to anybody who does not speak our official language and by requiring documentation of all employees that are working for any contractor/business that I employ.
The population deficit issue is not as big of a problem as it is presented to be. Ask anybody from Calcutta if a population surplus is beneficial. The root of the problem lies in our complacency since WW2. We don’t force our nation to be competitive because some soccer-mom will accost you for telling her that her child was not trying hard enough in school. We get involved in conflicts with countries that would destroy themselves if left alone. We allow mass influx of refuges from countries that have not been able to maintain themselves for decades and we assume that they will magically become productive when they reach our shores. We don’t argue drug prices with major suppliers while other countries tell the suppliers what they will pay. In short, our society has lost its backbone

In short, our society has lost its backbone.
Although I love this country and my family has lost a few lives in support of it, if we are simply going to hand it over to the Illegal Immigrants, then I am going to buy a bulk of land in a climate-desirable area of Mexico (for a very cheap price) and set up shop there. It should only take on generation for the new owners (i.e. Illegal Immigrants) to run America into the ground, and my kids can then return and buy back much more land at a substantially discounted price and begin to rebuild the country.

Interesting concept bub, I have heard of people moving to India to attepmt to get their jobs back (including the phillipines). where mercenaries "spread the word"

The New World Order also would enjoy a global re-organization of those countries, so have at it!

So, what is your obscure view on a great-wall to prevent "illegal" immigration?

Do you tell the legal ones, "go-away, this country is FULL!"?

bubbahotep read my blog

I think we all realize that the wall is just symbolic. When we allow people to float into our beaches on a pallet and inner tubes, a wall is really not going to have a great effect. The hole that needs to be plugged is in our policy. There have been statements made in other posts regarding the woman who hit the school bus. When we have a person in custody that we know is not here legally, we refrain from processing them out of the country. We don't even validate citizenship during a simple traffic stop. The root cause of this (in my opinion) is that we have allowed ourselves to become so afraid of doing the wrong thing that we now simply don't even begin to fix things.
We do tell some of the Legal Immigrants that the country is full, that is how we monitor/regulate immigration. I knew a man from Syria when I was overseas that had tried multiple times to gain US citizenship but was rejected. He owned a few businesses and was productive, but he was simply at the "bottom of the list" for the years' applicants. He didn't harbor any hatred for us, but instead looked forward to the day that he could become a citizen and tried everything he could think of to better his chances of gaining entry. When you take away the regulation, then you take away the "quality control" of our immigrants, and this simply says that we don't care who resides in our country. Besides all of this, having open/unregulated borders presents a phenominal security risk.
When we reward people for not following the rules, then the rules become useless. When rules become useless, then societal order erodes an

When rules become useless, then societal order erodes and people begin to protect their own interests at any cost. Although I don't like being told what to do anymore than the next person, rules/laws are a necessity, and when we discount them we lose civility.
