Wow, today was stresful. A plane carrying at least 8 people crashed carrying people to an airport about 60 miles outside of the Twin CFities. Things were crazy around here. Repprters and producers and photgraphers were running around trying to get as much information as they could to get the info to people. It was crazy and amazing watching people just put everything together. A very exciting and sad day.
Eight people are now confirmed dead from the crash and all of our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those on the plane.

The action has been picking up here in the newsroom over the last week of two. It seems that more stories are pouring in and that we can focus on more than just the weather. As the end of August and the RNC and State Fair get closer, hopefully the news will continue to come in.
Last week I got to go out and shadow Tim Blotz on his story about the disabled vans that had been torched. It was great to go out with Tim, he is one of nicest people I have met here. We got to tour the factory where the vans are created and I got to pick Tim's brain about the news industry. Later last week and so far this week I have been helping the investigative reporters do research in some possible stories, which can be very interesting.
On a more entertainment not, for those of you who have not heard the hype about the new Batman movie, well then frankly you live under a rock. I am here to tell you that the movie is everything they say and more. Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Eckhart, and the guy who plays Lt. Gordon are absolutely fantastic. The movie is so good and I highly recommend that anyone who hasn't seen the movie to go out and see it.
Till next time, Fox9Intern

I have been working at the station here for about 4 or 5 weeks, just learning the basics of what goes into creating the news that you see everyday. So far I have been able to sit in on meetings where what the day's stories will be are determined, gone out with reporters to learn how a story is tracked down and develops, and watched as a story is edited together.
Learning what goes into the news is so interesting because what becomes a story is often decided by just a few people who determine what they think will be interesting and newsworthy to those who watch their show. How well they are able to do this determines how many people watch.
I am also amazed at what reporters and photographers can do with just a simple tip. They can take something that seems small and not very important and uncover a major news event.
In just the couple of weeks that I have been here I have gained a new understanding and respect for what goes into creating the news.
Until next time, Fox 9 Intern
