I don't know why I had never heard or read about this before, but I just read on CNN.com -- today -- about a soldier being removed from active duty due to his picking up an innocent puppy and then throwing the poor thing off a cliff while it yelped.  Even more disturbing the man, it reported, was laughing as he did this!  What sickens me is this was an American doing this!  I could picture a terrorist or someone truly evil (like a criminal) doing something like this but to have a member of the military (our military) harming a defenseless animal is beyond disgusting.  I should almost stop reading about these cases because I  am such an animal lover, and cases of animal abuse/neglect and stories like this make me sick to my stomach. They say what goes around, comes around.  And for the man who did this, I hope its true.

If it were a pit bull, there are alot of old-schoolers, that would allow this action, It's a shame that we treat puppies better than our own troops.

I heard about this a couple of months ago, but we can't let this incdent spoil our opinion of our servicemen and women. There are pige like this in all groups of people, not just terrorists. Sometimes, it's actually a neighbor. Hopefully the castigation, and what-ever punishment this thing received, will wake him up to his stupidity. And no, no living thing should be treated in that manner. All life is precious!

Soldiers are human, and some humans are evil. Period. The act is shocking, but just because it was a soldier.............disappointing? sure. Surprising? No.

Medaspet, Jeanne, it's shocking, but not unthinkable of any human that can treat an animal like that. There are those who feel no shame, no empathy, or no disgrace in dropping an animal over a bridge such as this soldier did. But don't categorize all military as one in the same as what this one was. Hopefully, he's no longer a soldier?

I don't think the entire military is like this. I do know this is a very rare exception. But as an animal lover of course I'm upset by it.

It resembles a BEAGLE!, don't you love that?
The military does what it has to do, including disposing of carcasses!

hatewinter, you are right not all service members act in this fashion, at least no-one under my squad.

It's almost time for summer! My favorite time of year by far. I turn 31 (man I am gettin' old) in late July but I still like summer anyways. I hope the really warm temps come soon! Summer/spring are obviously my favorite seasons; and winter is my absolute least favorite. My favorite sports are tennis, basketball, and football, but I especially love pro tennis. And playing it!
