Wishin' for a heat wave....

I am glad that summer is about to start (officially) in a couple of weeks. But I really am eager for some hot temperatures, like the East Coast this weekend. This spring we have only seen like 2 or 3 temps at 80 or so (my estimate) so I'm concerned that this will be another summer like 2004 when it never seemed to really warm up all of that stretch. I say bring on the heat and humidity! And please bring it soon....
Feels like summer....

I have really enjoyed the past week weather-wise. These summer-like temps are terrific; it's hard to fathom now that we actually got a bit snow early in the month and that horrible snow storm in March is thankfully a memory. I had to turn my air conditioner on a few minutes because it was so uncomfortable in there. I usually hate turning it on before summer starts but it was just so warm out there. I can't wait for the 90s!
Yesterday was so great; 81 degrees never felt so good. Weather like this makes me wish summer started today! It's my favorite time of the year and I can't wait for it. We almost needed the air conditioner yesterday; however it wouldn't have made much sense to turn it on since we know this weather can't last at this time of the year.
Weather like this makes me wonder if the upcoming summer months will be as warm as last year. Last July it seemed every day of the month was in the 90s; I loved it but of course the lack of rain was definitely of great concern. At the beginning of last August I spent a week at my parents' house in Aberdeen, SD. I was born in SD in 1977 and lived there for about 13 years in all (until 2003 when I moved here...) but I never experienced hotter conditions than last August. Everyday in Aberdeen the weather was brutally hot with multiple days in the 100s. One day the temps hit 111 and the heat index made it like 118. I must admit I loved every minute of the heat wave, and I hope again it's a hot summer like 2006 (however, more rain would be welcome too). On an episode of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' earlier this year, Al Gore was a guest and was speaking, of course, about the dangers of global warming. Oprah had brought up the fact that somewhere in SD last summer (forgot the name) it had hit 123 degrees, which was pretty shocking. You don't expect South Dakota to get that hot, and that is pretty good evidence global warming is here. For people like me who enjoy the warm weather, I hope 2007 is a repeat of 2006. Bring it on! The only downside to this upcoming summer is my dreaded 30th birthday on July 26th..... I already feel like an old man! :)
