I had my stimulus check deposited in my account today......yeah! I didn't major in math and would not pretend to be a numbers whiz....According to my calculations.....married with two kids, we should have gotten a cool $1800. To my suprise, we didn't get the full amount I expected. A deposit of $1500 was placed in our account with a statement of 1 eligible dependent. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not marching to the IRS complaining about money that I will eventually pay back...(there is no such thing as free), but I do wonder when the rebate is based on your 2007 tax return how such a blatant error could be made. Upon review of our taxes, sure enough....married status...2 deps is was what was filed.
Could it be that someone received an extra $300 for one of my kids? Is it possible that the IRS is capable of a mistake? Has my 10 year old moved out of the house and is no longer eligible to be a dependent under IRS guidelines?
Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of "Right Guy.....Wrong Amount".....
(In the meantime, please feel free to share any stimulusgate stories you may have)
Cheers,
