Governor's Sex "Joke"

Governor Pawlenty went to Breezy Point for the state's fishing opener and came home with a whopper -- of a headache.

During a light-hearted moment with a WCCO radio host, he made this comment about his wife, Mary:

"I have a wife who genuinely loves to fish. I mean, she will take the lead and ask me to go out fishing, and joyfully comes here. She loves football, she'll go to hockey games and, I jokingly say, 'Now, if I could only get her to have sex with me."

He quickly added, "It's a joke, it's a joke."

The "joke" made Pawlenty a punchline on several political blogs, including The Huffington Post and Wonkette. 

A PR consultant I interviewed said if Pawlenty were his client, he'd have him apologize for perpetuating a sterotype about women.  A political science professor told me the political miscue may force John McCain to reconsider Pawlenty as a possible runningmate.

Meanwhile, Govenor Pawlenty called the dustup "kinda silly." He said, "I  said at the time it was a joke and meant in fun and hope it was taken that way."

Talk about the one that got away!

We have so much more to worry about then Govenor Pawlenty joke. It makes me sick that people can make a topic like this and make it a headline. If anyone should care it should be his wife. She even understands its a joke and can laugh about it. If this makes you upset you should get a life. You have to much time on your hands. Find something to do!

Now is the time we should worry more about the gas prices, the foreclosure rates, the families who are fighting to stay above water. Gov. Pawlenty is as close to a normal as i've seen in a long time.If these bleading hearts care as much about what is truely hurting us and not discrediting the man for making a simple harmless joke. I know that while you babies were gasping for air when you finally got the joke, the other 90% of us were laughing!!

if the Governor was with friends he should be able to let"his hair down". If he was with reporters he should know that they will always take things out of contents.

I'm really glad to see that the comments are from people who take no offense at the Gov's quip. Good for you, ALL!!! Maybe we, indeed, are finally starting to "lighten up"!!! That is as refreshing as the Governor's "wife-line".
