How very nice, in New York, the higher taxes on tobacco have forced many to quit. A nice example of freedom in action. Smokers were, and still are, the only section of society, that one can legally harass, taunt, and discriminate against. Not only that, the price for the medications for quitting are ridiculously high, and hidden so you can't even find them, Nothing like making it twice difficult to quit, even if you want to. Now all are feeling so good that they've removed one more threat to the "common good , "Bull @%&*". As usual, finding something that MAY be harmful to some, gives the rest a reason to prohibit or otherwise restrict that activity. I had to quit myself, because on a fixed income, it is impossible to enjoy the one vice I've always allowed myself. No, it didn't harm my health, being in my own home, I didn't impinge on the rights of others. Compared to alcohol, it is relatively harmless. Why not raise the tax on liquor, make it too expensive to drink and drive, less victims of drunk drivers. Less families wiped out by some idiot with a snoot full. Having too much nicotine isn't going to make one high, and dangerous on the road. Considering how many adults seem to believe it's alright for their kids to drink, maybe it's time for a little legislation there, since it's obvious we can't think for ourselves. We definitely need BIG BROTHER. Any-one for another look at Orwell's 1984? Well, that's where we're heading folks. Like the idea of having every action you make controlled by the govt? We're getting there. Every time we say " the govt should put a stop to this and do something" one more little freedom is removed. It may seem like a small thing at the time of legislation, but, as the rules and restrictions pile up, we'll be shackled by our own actions, or in-actions, as you decide.

I'm a older adult, who loves cats, and tolerates differences, just don't push them in my face. I'm into electronics, good books, music. Mainly Swing and classical and classic jazz, though I have been known to lend an ear to Elvis, and Buddy Holly:). I must admit that I'm an agnostic, extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. And I require proof. My main specialty is computer circuitry. Mostly building and inspecting it, now I'm having the fun of using it, and learning more every day. From staring through a 20 power scope at a microscopic unit, to blogging. How 'bout that.
