Sorry, I can find nothing to celebrate, in a country that tosses older workers aside like used toilet paper. A congress that keeps voting down improvements in Social Security and Medicare. Go for a job interview, you're asked "just what have you been doing for the last three years? LOOKING FOR A JOB YOU IDIOT! Ex-cons can get a job, illegal immigrants can get a job, but I committed the worst crime ever, I got old. I'm not eligible for a job, and because I'm on SS, not eligible for unemployment. Do they really think I need to work because I need a hobby? I mean really, I just want to pay my bills, savethe home I worked for fifty years to get. Then I know of those ike one relative thats sat on her fat rear for 40 years, collected free rent, medical care, food stamps off of MY taxes and never contributed one cent, And I don't qualify for any kind of assistance, sorry, this country sucks big time!

OMG BubbleHead, what are you? A moron? Did you spend to much time in the sun and your brain is fried? Was your mother on alcohol while you were a fetus? Have you been exposed to any chemicals, dropped on your head excessively as a child, or just a plain idiot?

It's not easy to work all your life in this country, or any other country, and expect that when you retire, you have something that will get you through the years until your death.

Who the H*LL gives you the right to pass judgement on any other person? This lady got older, thus she went onto SS. That's what she paid into for all her working years, and now with the economy as it is, that piddly amount given to anyone, (including our own moms) is not enough to cover expenses.

When it's your turn and you have to look at your finances and decide if it's gas for the car to look for work or food on the table or even medicine for the month, we hope you're sick pathetic attempt at downgrading this woman comes back to bite you....

Well, you're not smart enough to work until retirement it seems, so we'll be paying your way like the rest of the lazy morons.

Thanks Midevil, at least one out there gets it. Unfortunately, finding a job at my age is not easy, Yes, I'd love to go elsewhere, but that takes money:)

Wow, a prime example of an idiot trying to be funnier than what his postings have shown.

StupidSlow, it's been proven that BARACK-NO "HUSSEIN" OSAMA BIN LADEN isn't intelligent enough to run on his own. He's a radical, a racist, a Islamic Muslim taught, wannabe human being.

And with your limited intelligence, you just go ahead and vote for him.........there's the whole joke.

Good God, you're dumb. Well, from your postings and replies, it's evident.

"We spent summers planting so many vegetables that we could can for winter. We were on commodities from the county to supplement our meals. Us boys hunting massively through the fall and winter to help with the meat, or worked for neighbors into the dark for enough money to buy calves and pig for fall slaughter.
It was a tough life"-quote-midevil.
Take what to the bank? you don't even have an account, farmboy.
As I told you before place your bet, but I don't take livestock, but brenda can come over and toss my salad.
You don't spell much better dude.

One thing for sure, I'm able to stir up a hornets nest with my blogs. That's great, because differing opinions, dissenting view-points is what built this country. And that's what is great about it. You and I can vent our anger without fear of reprisal. No matter how angry we get with the current administration, we have the right to say it, fearlessly. THAT'S why I remain in this country, and support it. It should not be " my country right or wrong", but we should work to make it right, and as strong as it used to be.

Jeanne, like you I am a older American, and yes with the new young generation out in the work place it makes it hard to get entry level positions. Do what I did, find something you like and sell it. I like to paint, so a started a commercial coating painting company,

"They call me, . . . Painter Kreg"

I do gas station turn a rounds and found this to be very locative, It pays my bills and then some.

If you are fighting illegals & immigrants for work, then its a skill issue and the Mn. work force will pay to get you some training. They offer a wide verity of things to train & work in. I know friends that have used this service and found good paying, enjoyable employment.

Pull it together and get it done, at least your not treated as or no more important then a goat as a common China citizen.

Go Get'em

&

Good Luck !!!!!

So, there's plenty of jobs, layoffs everyday. Three acquaintances of mine just got lay-off notices. Many companies in the state as happened to my friends, are moving the jobs OUT OF THE COUNTRY, like Puerto Rico. I got lucky this week, actually got called for a good job. But for many it's not that easy. And after working for fifty years, no I don't feel like a freeloader! More like someone whose investments went to hell. Believe me, if I didn't feel I need the money to make up for what was lost, I'd be sitting in the sun somewhere, and probably being just as smug as some of you.

Jeanne, jobs ARE getting scarce, mostly due to corporate greed, even for some of us generation X'ers, we are feeling the crunch, and pinch.
Good luck on your new call.

First off..
MidEvil, You are the most skilled person at self-discrediting that I have ever seen. In one sentence you call me "stupid" and "lazy" and in the next sentence you state that nobody has the right to pass judgement. When you ask if my "Mother was on alcohol when I was a fetus" you must be mistakenly thinking of your junky, abandoned Son (nice parenting on your part). You won't be paying my way, as I have always kept myself employed, regardless of the job that I had to take. You are probably mistaking this for your need to pay back "commodities from the county to supplement our meals" that you have received. As always, you exhibit an obvious need for any attention available by trying to argue against anything that anyone has posted. Take some time off and try to produce a valid point instead of all of your self-conflicting, juvenile rants.
Jeanne, although I can sympathize with your concerns regarding age and Gov't benefits (both of my parents are at Medicare age but still have to work occasional manual-labor jobs as nobody wants to hire a retirement age person for their former carreer jobs), it is fairly presumptive to expect the Gov't to solve all of your problems and then condemn the entire country when they don't. You also lose credibility when you start out saying that "this country sucks" and then later say "dissenting view-points is what built this country And that's what is great about it" and "THAT'S why I remain in this country, and support it". If you say that something sucks, then you most definitely don't support it. I am assuming that it is not so mu

Oh Bubble-Head, great comeback. Another fetus soaked in alchol couldn't fathom another way to state that you and StupidlySlow are one in a peanut shell.
We enjoy arguing. It brings out the stupidity of those who wish to argue back, and with no valid point behind them, it's a game we enjoy. We've had a tough life. We got over it, completed the proper schooling, and went on to very good jobs. We've never been without a job since 16. Does that make us feel all warm and fuzzy to know you've taken jobs you didn't want? Whoopie Ding. We so tickled pink for you Bubble-Head.
We so greatful that your parents are out there working like slave dogs to assist them in their financial woes. Lordy, we're prouder than snot for them and with a loving family members supporting their manual labor, you should be family of the year......(yawn)
As for Jeanne, we understand the frustration you've shown about job placement. Hang in there, it's bound to change for you.

Will the real Stupidly-Slow please come back?

I heard that they might make a law that states fireworks and emergency flares will be classified as incendiary devices and explosives, that carry a charge with them in court, does this mean they want to cancel fourth of July fireworks, and New Years bashes with fireworks? I am sure that all aircrews and maritime crews that purchase emergency flares or survival kits when they are in the High seas, tundra's, and deserts will not appreciate this happening either.

Currently there is a law that classifies fireworks and explosives by chemical structure and weight, which is the determining factor in which a judicial action takes place if used or suspected in a crime.

Thinking about opening a fireworks factory? well be aware, be very aware.

Well, I did , finally find a job. Not what I'm trained for, but, something I can do. It's a third shift, not too bad 'cause then I can avoid the heat of the day. Contrary to rumor, I've never met any of you guys, but I do appreciate your feedback. It's interesting.

True, but it's not any job, but one I'm physically capable of doing. At 66, I'm not some husky macho guy that can lift I beams, or run forklifts. After working for so long I don't feel like a freeloader, and I'M NOT! I just expect a fair amount back from what I've paid into for so long.

I'm a older adult, who loves cats, and tolerates differences, just don't push them in my face. I'm into electronics, good books, music. Mainly Swing and classical and classic jazz, though I have been known to lend an ear to Elvis, and Buddy Holly:). I must admit that I'm an agnostic, extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. And I require proof. My main specialty is computer circuitry. Mostly building and inspecting it, now I'm having the fun of using it, and learning more every day. From staring through a 20 power scope at a microscopic unit, to blogging. How 'bout that.
