Sorry Cheap chick, doing without a cellphone, and keeping to a landline is the foolish way to go. Dump the landline for prepaid cell. On most of them you can call long distance as well as local, and it's far more economical. And as far as cable. How about sitting  around staring at four walls. I don't know too many retirees, or any-one else for that matter,  that finds that enjoyable. What we need is to find a cable system that sells A-la-Carte channels. I for one can only clean house so much and read so many books before looking for something to watch. Granted, there's very little worth watching now-days with so many stupid "Reality" shows. But if the cable companies got their heads on straight and offered channels a-la-carte, there would definitely be an audience. I'm very sick of being forced to pay for 99 channels I don't want to get the 2-3 I do, so I'm letting my cable go. But, I'd be more than happy to pay for a line-up of just the ones I want. Wouldn't you?  Yes, some of the dish services are cheaper, but many places limit or out-right prohibit them, so in a way, some of us have very few choices. Your suggestions should touch with reality a little more.

I'm a older adult, who loves cats, and tolerates differences, just don't push them in my face. I'm into electronics, good books, music. Mainly Swing and classical and classic jazz, though I have been known to lend an ear to Elvis, and Buddy Holly:). I must admit that I'm an agnostic, extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. And I require proof. My main specialty is computer circuitry. Mostly building and inspecting it, now I'm having the fun of using it, and learning more every day. From staring through a 20 power scope at a microscopic unit, to blogging. How 'bout that.
